About Me
As a child I grew up in the remote farming area of the Waitotara Valley in the North Island of New Zealand, I was influenced at an early age by rural scenes such as the natural bush and shadows. Over the last 30 years I have experimented in most mediums – Watercolors, Acrylics and Pastels but after our move to Wanaka I discovered that using oil paints and a palette knife on large canvases helped me to capture the dramatic lighting and sculptured lines of the unique Central Otago Landscape.
Living in Wanaka gives me amazing access to some great plein air painting because with only a short drive in any direction I can be amongst some breathtaking views. I have spent most of my life creating in some form and I am very grateful to have the opportunity to pursue my passion for painting.
I’ve exhibited internationally and many of my large landscapes have found homes overseas as a reminder of this beautiful part of this world, although it is sometimes hard to part with a painting it is a privilege to think someone else will be enjoying what I have created.
